After years of designing and creating beautiful home wares, textiles and furniture for friends and family, going into business was a natural progression for Melbourne based design couple Bonnie and Neil.
And since launching their brand in 2010 they have had an astonishing rise that now has their products in high demand from some of the World’s most prestigious retailers, as well as receiving constant features in popular interior design magazines.
“We never anticipated that our business would grow to this scale, but it’s the encouragement of our customers, stockists and the industry that makes us keep going and growing. We have lots of exciting plans ahead and ideas to extend our business and product range, so this has really evolved from a passion project to a way of life.” Says Neil.
Much of this growth is due to the fact that Bonnie and Neil’s designs are unique in every way.
They move to their own beat and do not focus on design trends or consumerism, instead focusing on creating products that they love, whilst also be functional, sustainable and adding a touch of luxury at the same time.
If you love of bright colours and intricate patterns you will adore their collection as these elements shine through in their vast range of products, which include…
Skilfully blending vivid colours and patterns with images of Flora and Fauna is often a feature of many of their design. And this is hardly a surprise when you learn about Bonnie’s past life as a florist.
“My background as a florist means our home is always filled with flowers and plants. We also enjoy getting out and about in nature when we can, even if it’s a walk in the local park with our dog Rosie.”
In fact this worldwide brand all started from a screen-printed cushion with an image of a cockatoo, which was the first product they ever sold.
6 years has now past since this distinctive print introduced Bonnie and Neil to the world of interiors and it remains one of their most popular products.
So what is so special about these to innovative minds and the beautiful home wares they create?
- It could be 100% handmade designs that make each piece unique.
- It could be their love of 70’s colours, pattern and plants.
- It could be the water based inks and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
- It could be their background in floristry, art, design and woodwork.
- Or it could be the result of two partners inspiring each other to create pieces that push the boundaries of modern design and innovation.
But really I think it is a combination of all these things that make Bonnie and Neil stand out from the crowd. And it is all these things that make you fall in love with their collections just like I have.
