Salt Living was founded with a desire to help our customers bring the timeless, seaside aesthetic into their homes; so every day can feel like a coastal escape. As a boutique store, Salt Living offers our customers a curation of 100% French linen pieces that reflect our classic and refined coastal style.

Why Salt Living?

As we evolve to design and produce our own product line of bed and table linen, Salt Living as a brand is making fine quality linen and homewares more accessible to our customers. With a focus on authentic, timeless style, and environmentally mindful design and production, Salt Living will help you effortlessly recapture the essence of a seaside escape in the styling of your home.

Now, more so than ever, we feel driven to make the commitment to taking steps that will set the Salt Living brand in a more conscious and environmentally sustainable direction. For as we all know, the choices we make today, will change our tomorrow. As a small, family run business, we have been taking steps to improve our footprint, both on a small scale in our packaging, and also on a large scale with our product range, manufacturing processes and future product development.

We are extremely proud that all Salt Living bedding is made of 100% linen that has been environmentally and ethically certified by the European Flax Standard, Oeko-Tex and WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production.)

“Thank you for visiting Salt Living. I first opened Salt Living in early 2015, and it has been my greatest passion ever since. When I’m not floating around the office or warehouse - I can be found floating around in the sea. Though my true obsession is linen- and the simple pleasure of coming home to a bed made of freshly laundered sheets and a fluffy yet crisp duvet!”

- Jacinta Bishop, Founder and Designer.

Luxurious Quality.

As a brand, Salt Living mostly sells directly to our customer, or through interior designers around Australia.

On a practical level, this minimises our environmental footprint, as it reduces the need for transportation of products from one location to another. It means we can offer a consciously created range online making it easier for our customers all over Australia to make a long term investment in a quality product. Our small team are gladly only an email or phone call away if you are wishing for any product, styling or colour advice!

Timeless, enduring style.

Part of our brand ethos at Salt Living focuses on curating a home of quality items that you can enjoy for years, even as your style evolves.

The classic colours and styles you’ll find at Salt Living are not a reflection of ‘of-the-moment’ trends, but rather timeless pieces that will enduringly compliment your way of living.

Well made, 100% French bed linen will stand the test of time, growing only softer and more beautiful with age. Our bed linen is made to be enjoyed for many years to come, and we have kept that in mind when designing the colours and styles of our range. Our Salt Living bed linen range features classic colours and stripes that you can mix and match to reflect your individual and evolving style. Rather than playing to on-trend colours, we carefully select timeless hues that capture the essence of a seaside escape, so you can style your bedroom into your own peaceful retreat.

Environmentally mindful

Aside from its luxurious feel, linen is an environmentally conscious fabric choice for many reasons. When untreated, linen is 100% biodegradable; although, you won’t need to get rid of your bed linen any time soon, because linen is naturally incredibly durable, making it an excellent long-term investment. Linen is made from flax, a bast fibre. Bast fibres derive from the inner fibrous layer of plants, and are seen as sustainable primarily because their cultivation requires little irrigation or treatment in comparison to other fabrics, and impact on soils is low. Flax can actually be grown on arid terrain that cannot support the production of other crops.

Our linen is certified as genuine European Flax, and is produced in line with theEUROPEAN FLAX® ethical and environmental standards including: no irrigation, a rotation crop with no GMO, low use of fertiliser and pesticides with no defoliant, natural field retting, a carbon sink (that stores 400,000 tons of Co2 each year) and zero waste from the flax crop; as the whole plant is used in production.

Our linen has been tested, and cleared for substances and that may be harmful to human health, as credited by the STANDARD 100 OEKO-TEX® certification of our manufacturing partners.

When you place an online order with Salt Living, your items will be posted in a mailer satchel that is made of recycled materials, which you can also reused or recycled. In our newest product ranges, our 100% French bed linen and soft furnishings are all individually packaged in linen drawstring pouches, rather than plastic packaging. Not only does this eliminate the need for single use plastic packaging, it also provides you with a complementary linen pouch that can be used to store and organise your linen cupboard, to separate smaller items in your handbag, tote or suitcase, or, as one of our customers recently suggested, to keep your phone and keys out of the sand while at the beach!

Consciously manufactured.

Our exclusive linen ranges are designed in Australia, and manufactured in Northern China by Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production certified production houses.

This means our manufacturers adhere to WRAP standards of safe, lawful, humane, and ethical practices, including prohibition of forced labor and child labor, proper lawful compensation and benefits, and a safe and healthy working environment. We’re proud to have fostered a very positive relationship with our Chinese and Turkish manufacturers over the years, and are grateful to be able to mutually support each other’s businesses.
