Preorders & Restocks
When will pre-orders be dispatched?
We will be dispatching Sandstone and remaining French Blue pre-orders between 10th - 16th July.
Is Sandstone Farmhouse going to be restocked?
Yes, we have a big restock currently in production and expected to arrive early - mid July. Preorders are now open.
When will out of stock products be back in stock?
Some products and colours are part of our core collection and will be restocked, though production can take time and higher-demand items may sometimes be prioritised. We are a small boutique business doing our best to meet our customer demand, but at this stage in our growth journey we are only able to keep up with doing about 4-6 production cycles per year.
Please make sure you’re subscribed to our mailing list to ensure you don’t miss any announcements regarding our product launches, restocks or new pre-order releases.
Occasionally some colours / products are discontinued however, and won't be returning.
Sheet Sets
We won’t be restocking our Sheet Sets, as we’ve introduced our new Bed Sheet Bundles - a more flexible way to experience Salt Living bedding. Each bundle allows you to mix and match your preferred colours and sizes, giving you the freedom to design your perfect combination.
How do Salt pre orders work?
We generally receive about 4 - 6 containers per year, trying our best to maintain good stock levels. If something is sold out, but we have more coming on our next container, then we will list it as Pre-Order. You will be able to place your order as normal, your credit card is charged in full and your order is dispatched to you from our Coolangatta warehouse once stock has arrived. We keep you updated via email on expected delivery times. We highly recommend pre-ordering, instead of waiting until it comes back in stock, because some colours or sizes have actually PRE-sold out in the past. So we want to give you your best chance of getting what you want.
What is the benefit of pre ordering?
To secure your desired item, we highly recommend pre-ordering, because some colours or sizes have actually been known to PRE-sell out before even becoming available online to the public. So we want to give you your best chance of getting what you're waiting for. Pre orders also take priority, so our preorder customers may receive their orders up to a week earlier than it's available online.
If I pre order do I pay upfront?
Pre orders need to be paid in full upon checkout.
If I pre order, can I change my mind?
Yes of course, please email or call our friendly customer support team if you wish to edit or cancel your order.
When will pre orders be shipped?
Your pre-order will generally be shipped within 1 -2 days of stock arrival.
Why does Salt Living linen take several months to restock?
Each Salt Living piece is made from scratch in small, considered production runs. Once we place an order, European flax fibres are sourced and shipped to our partnering mill before weaving begins. Our fabric is then yarn-dyed, custom woven to our specifications, cut, sewn, washed, finished and shipped to Australia. This process takes time, but it ensures we maintain full control over quality while avoiding overproduction and waste.
Linen & Products
Why choose Salt Living linen over other brands?
Many choose Salt Living linen for our premium quality and finish. Our linen is approximately 185gsm GSM (meaning grams per square metre), a measure of fabric weight and overall quality. Our French flax linen is yarn-dyed (not garment dyed) prior to weaving, for richer, longer-lasting colour, for depth and authenticity you can see and feel. Crafted from certified European flax grown in France and woven to a premium weight, Salt Living bedding is designed to soften beautifully over time while holding its quality for years to come.
Why sleep on linen?
Linen is naturally breathable, hypoallergenic, moisture-wicking and easy to care for, making it a timeless and practical choice for bedding.
Linen is naturally breathable, hypoallergenic and moisture-wicking. It regulates temperature beautifully — cool and airy through warmer months, yet softly insulating and cosy when the weather turns — its versatility offers year-round comfort in any Australian home.
Beyond performance, linen carries an effortless aesthetic. Its gentle drape, subtle tactile texture and relaxed finish create a bed that feels inviting rather than overly styled ~ refined, yet never trying too hard. Yarn-dyed for depth of colour and with our signature woven stripes, each piece holds a quiet richness that speaks to nature, craftsmanship and effortless style.
At Salt Living, we choose linen because it reflects our values: natural fibres, enduring quality, and timeless style made to be lived in daily. It softens with every wash, grows more beautiful with age, and becomes part of the rituals that shape slow mornings and restful nights.
Where are your products made?
Salt Living is proudly Australian owned and operated. Our warehouse is based in Kirra, on the Southern Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
Our Salt Living product collections are designed by Salt Living founder, Jacinta Bishop in close collaboration with our production house partners in Northern China.
Our linen is woven from flax that is grown in France and certified by the European Flax Standard.
Our Northern China production partners then dye the yarn, weave the fabric, cut and sew our pieces, pre washing then individually packaging into linen drawstring pouches, before it is shipped across the seas to where it all began- Coolangatta, Queensland.
All orders are dispatched from our Coolangatta warehouse.
Does linen have thread count?
Unlike other fabrics such as cotton, linen is not measured by thread count, but rather by GSM (grams per square metre), rating the heaviness and in turn the density of the fabric. To compare, denim has a GSM of about 400, while lightweight cotton has a GSM of around 100-130. Our Salt Living 100% French Flax linen is woven to be between 170 - 190 GSM, depending on the particular product. This density gives our linen a luxurious strength, while still feeling light enough to provide excellent breathability in warmer weather
What is the gsm?
Our Salt Living 100% French Flax linen is woven to be between 170 - 190 GSM, (usually 185gms) depending on the particular product. This density gives our linen a luxurious strength, while still feeling light enough to provide excellent breathability in warmer weather. GSM is grams per square meter, this indicates the weight and density of the linen fabric. A higher GSM generally indicates a heavier and more substantial fabric.
Is Salt Living linen safe and responsibly produced?
Yes. Our linen uses European Flax® certified fibre, which guarantees traceability, environmentally responsible cultivation, and compliance with international labour standards. Our finished textiles are also OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning every component has been tested and verified free from harmful substances - safe for your home, your skin, and your sleep.
Does Salt linen have any certifications?
Our Salt Living 100% French linen bedding has been environmentally and ethically certified by the European Flax Standard, Oeko-Tex and WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production.)
What are the benefits of choosing linen bedding over other alternatives?
Many of you would already know and love linen for its timeless style, breathability and hypoallergenic qualities. Linen is a naturally breathable fabric that can absorb moisture without trapping bacteria. It is easy to care for, being machine washable and moth resistant.
Salt linen is between 170 - 190 gms, this density gives our linen a luxurious strength, while still feeling light enough to provide excellent breathability in warmer weather.
Aside from its luxurious feel, linen is an environmentally conscious fabric choice for many reasons. When untreated, linen is 100% biodegradable; although, you won’t need to get rid of your bed linen any time soon, because linen is naturally incredibly durable, making it an excellent long-term investment.
Linen is made from flax, a bast fibre. Bast fibres derive from the inner fibrous layer of plants, and are seen as sustainable primarily because their cultivation requires little irrigation or treatment in comparison to other fabrics, and impact on soils is low. Flax can actually be grown on arid terrain that cannot support the production of other crops.
Why is linen bedding more expensive than cotton?
Linen is made from flax fibre, which is slower to grow and more complex to process than cotton. The highest-quality flax is grown in Western Europe without irrigation and with minimal chemical inputs, making it both more sustainable and more limited in supply. Linen fibres are stronger and require more labour to spin and weave, but the result is a fabric that lasts longer, breathes better, and softens beautifully over time. Many customers find that investing in linen means replacing bedding less often and enjoying greater comfort year-round.
What does “yarn-dyed linen” mean, and why does it matter?
Yarn-dyed linen means the threads are dyed before the fabric is woven. This allows colour to run through the entire yarn, creating depth, subtle tonal variation and a finish that develops beautifully over time. Many linens are dyed after weaving, which is faster and cheaper but often results in flatter colour and less character. Yarn dyeing is slower, but it’s one of the reasons Salt Living linen feels richer and more enduring.

Machine wash on a delicate cycle with soft detergents and similar colours in cool or warm water, before line drying in shade. Do not tumble dry. Do not bleach, soak, use fabric softeners or other harsh chemicals. Do not leave in the sun for extended periods. Your linen will soften over time, retaining their relaxed, indulgent texture.
Is Salt linen machine washable?
Yes absolutely. Machine wash gently with soft detergents and similar colours in cool or warm water, before line drying in shade. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. Avoid hot water. Do not tumble dry. Do not bleach, soak, use fabric softeners or other harsh chemicals. Your linen will soften over time, retaining their relaxed, indulgent texture.
Do I iron my linen?
Most of our customers don't worry about ironing their linen, they simply embrace the natural crinkles and textural quality that linen has. However, a percentage of our customers do love to iron their linen and we love that for them! We suggest a linen setting, or a cool - warm heat but never a high setting.
Can I tumble dry Salt linen?
We recommend line drying in shade however, if you must tumble dry, please use a low - med setting but never a high heat.

Can I use fabric softener when washing my linen?
No, we do not recommend using any fabric softener type products, nor soaking, bleaching or vanish type products- as these contain chemicals which are likely to damage the integrity of the fibres, therefore weakening them. Your linen won't last as long if washing with these products.
My quilt has some pilling?
We recommend washing your quilt in cool water prior to any use. The usual cause of pilling is shortening of the fibres in the fill caused by hot water or too much abrasion. This results in fibres escaping through the weave of the linen. If this happens, you could try to remove it with a pilling comb and keep washing in cold water on a delicate cycle in a large enough machine to minimise abrasion.
Following the care instructions of washing in a cool, delicate cycle is very important for maintaining the quality and integrity of the product.
