For our linen to be made, the spun yarn is dyed and woven from scratch to our specific weight, colour and fabric finish, before being cut, sewn, washed and meticulously quality checked. Altogether, this process takes many months, but it’s what gives Salt Living linen its durability, exclusive coastal colours and that beautifully lived-in feel our customers keep returning for.

Why Premium Linen Takes Time
At Salt Living, creating our linen is a slower, more considered process than most people realise. It begins with flax grown in Western Europe, where the fibres are harvested, then carefully retted, dried and extracted - a process that takes weeks and must be done with precision to preserve strength and quality.
The fibres are then spun into yarn and sent overseas to our manufacturing partners in Asia. From there, the fibres are dyed, and woven at a slower pace than cotton to maintain integrity. For custom linen like ours, the fabric is developed from scratch to our specific weight, colours and finish, before being cut, sewn, washed and meticulously quality checked.
Altogether, this process takes months, but it’s what gives Salt Living linen its durability, exclusive coastal colours and that beautifully lived-in feel our customers keep returning for.
