French Provincial

French Provincial

Soft, worn colour and a touch of formality, White Farmhouse Stripe suits this collection particularly well against French Blue Thin Stripe, woven for the kind of bedroom that looks considered rather than casual. It's a palette that rewards a slower, more deliberate way of putting a room together, very much in keeping with the French Provincial style it takes its name from.

At Salt Living, we believe

Home is more than a place ~ it’s a feeling. A quiet moment at the end of each day.

Our mission is to help enhance those moments by offering beautifully crafted, premium bedding that brings comfort and a timeless, seaside aesthetic into your home. Inspired by nature and designed with heart by Jacinta, each collection is made from high quality materials in exclusive colours, and a deep care for how you feel in your space. We aim to empower the decorator in you, offering confidence, inspiration, and the kind of service that feels personal — like coming home.

How to Style

~ Lead with symmetry: French Provincial rewards a matched pair, two shams, two lumbar cushions, mirrored either side of the bed, more than most of our other collections do.

~ Let the thin stripe add the texture: French Blue Thin Stripe works particularly well as an accent layer against White Farmhouse Stripe, though it's not the only pairing in the range. The fine stripe reads as detail rather than pattern, keeping the formality intact.

~ Protect the drape: Avoid over-drying. This look depends on the fabric's natural fall, and over-drying is the fastest way to lose the polish the style is built around.

~ Carry the formality past the bed: An armchair upholstered in French Blue Thin Stripe holds the same quiet symmetry as the bed itself. A pair of bedside lamps gives a softer, more considered light than any single ceiling fitting, and a ruffled valance keeps that tailored line running right down to the floor.

Meet the Founder

Together with my parents, Carol and Steve, we opened Salt Living in early 2015 - and it’s been our greatest joy ever since.

My days are spent working on Salt Living or moving between home in Coffs Harbour and our Gold Coast warehouse. When not working I'll either be spending time with my son, frolicking in the sea, painting or deep in a Pinterest rabbit hole, absorbing all the beautiful tones, textures, and interiors that inspire me.

But one of my greatest joys is linen — and the quiet ritual of returning home to a bed layered with freshly laundered sheets and a fluffy, crisp duvet.

Thank you for being here.

with love, Jacinta

Our French Provincial Collection

French Provincial style has always balanced symmetry with warmth, and that's the line Salt Living's French Provincial collection walks. White Farmhouse Stripe paired with French Blue Thin Stripe is one of our favourite combinations here, rather than anything busy enough to disrupt the formality, though the range runs broader than just those two. It's one of the more tailored looks in our range, but the linen keeps it from ever feeling stiff, the same quality that runs through French Provincial interiors more broadly: a little formal, never fussy.

That balance comes down to the fabric itself. French Flax Linen has a natural drape and a slight structure that suits a more considered bedroom better than a fabric that creases too easily or holds too crisp a line, and because every piece is stonewashed and yarn-dyed before weaving, the colour has real depth rather than sitting flat on the surface. Customers furnishing a more formal bedroom tell us this is the collection that finally struck the right note, polished enough for the room they wanted, without losing the softness that makes linen worth choosing in the first place.

The tones in this range, White Farmhouse Stripe and French Blue Thin Stripe among them, are designed to be layered rather than matched exactly, which is very much in keeping with how we build every collection: a considered palette that interior stylists can move pieces in and out of, not a boxed set. And every piece is finished to the same premium 170 to 185gsm weight, OEKO-TEX and European Flax certified, made by the same small, family-run team behind everything else we do, because a more formal room deserves the same personal care as any other.

A more formal, traditional room can feel like it needs a trained eye to get right, and that's exactly the kind of styling question I enjoy most. I'm Jacinta Bishop, founder of Salt Living, and whether you already have a clear picture of French Provincial style in mind or you'd like some guidance translating it into your own bedroom, I'm glad to be the one you ask.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do people style White Farmhouse Stripe?
Most pair it with matching pillowcases for a coordinated set, letting the weave itself do the styling work. Our Sandstone and Kelp chambray products also work in beautiflly. Or even our French blue thin stripe if you prefer more of a mix and match vibe.
What does "yarn-dyed" actually mean?
The thread is dyed before weaving, not after, which is why the colour runs through with depth rather than sitting flat on the surface, giving a beautiful textured look, and holds up better over time.
What's a sham, and how is it different from a pillowcase?
A sham is a decorative quilted pillow cover, designed to be decorative rather than slept on. Our quilted pillow shams have quilted front, finished with an envelope opening at centre back, for an even symetrical look from the front , with no gap in side openings. They are a finishing touch to elevate your bedroom design.
What makes the quality noticeable here?
Our fabric weight and finishing are what customers most often single out when they compare us to other linen they've owned. The strength holds up to years of daily use, not just a season of looking good. We use Premium 100% French flax linen, woven to between 170 and 190gsm.
How is this collection cared for?
Machine wash gently in cool or warm water, line dry in shade, no bleach, softeners or harsh products. Avoid tumble dryer, but on a low-med temp is fine. Intended to soften and last, not wear thin
